Kids Adirondacks

Loll introduces two new chairs for kids. The Small is designed to fit kids from 6 to 12 years of age and the Extra Small will feel just-right for kids old enough to sit up until they are 6. Made from durable and washable high density polyethylene, these chairs are unaffected by birthday cake, finger paints, juice boxes, and mashed bananas. If only your kids were this easy to clean!

You don’t have to be short to enjoy a good stool. By popular demand we have added a few stools to our growing line of useful pieces.

Utility Stools

Designed by Carter McGuyer for Loll Designs, the Utility Stool has a built-in basket that will hold anything from cleaning supplies, garden tools, and even bathroom trinkets. Intended to work inside or out, the Utility Stool is made with recycled high density poly and recycled Richlite occ for durability and no maintenance. Although we think the basket is a functional feature, you can also get it without.

Handy

Like a good lap dog, the Handy is that stool that once you have it you will wonder how you ever existed without it. Sized appropriately for service, the Handy won’t take-up a lot of room but will always be ready to play. The small size and convenient hand-hold make it easy to carry and its solid construction of durable poly material will have the Handy hanging around for years.

“The greening of design is being propelled by a whole new generation of designers for whom sustainable solutions are second nature. ‘Green designers are some of the most forward thinking,’ says [Josh] Dorfman, author of The Lazy Environmentalist and co-host of the Sirius Satellite Radio show of the same name… Loll Designs takes the idea of recycling one step beyond by creating classic Adirondack-style outdoor chairs from recycled post-consumer plastic.”

Loll finds its home in a freshly refurbished brownfield industrial site in Duluth, Minnesota. For nearly 80 years prior, a business manufactured concrete forms such as culverts, pilings, light posts and burial vaults. Petroleum contaminated soil, unused cement and tons of concrete objects were strewn around the 4 acre hilltop site when Loll purchased the unkempt facility they now fondly call Hawks Boots. With the aid of local architects David Salmela and Carly Coulson of Salmela Architect, the tired buildings were renovated with the addition of a modern open office plan. The facility now boasts amazing views of the St. Louis River valley and distant views of Lake Superior as well as taking in the surrounding boreal forest. Although the building is not a LEED certified project, concern for environmental design was a priority. Along with greening the brownfield site and reusing the existing structures, natural lighting and ventilation, low VOC materials, and passive solar heating were employed into the project. Landscaping is all natural vegetation and roadways were left pervious to maintain existing water runoff. The building doesn’t define our business, but in our case it has helped lead the way to where we are going.
